After Tony Palermo is challenged by obnoxious lifeguard captain Mackie Smith he asks Victor to box in the upcoming Santa Monica Challenge, a charity event that pits cops and firemen against lifeguards. At first Victor refuses, haunted by memories of the fight that knocked his career cold. He changes his mind, trains, spars well and is all ready when he finds that the lifeguards have switched opponents -- to the very same man who put the fear in him eight years ago.
