Hanbun no tsuki ga noboru sora: Rika gets sent to the ICU and Yuichi can only see her for a minute. Dazed and depressed, he encounters Akiko's friend, Misako, who immediately seduces him. Akiko quickly figures out what she's doing and angrily reprimands Yuichi. She tells him never to tell Rika about this or else her condition will grow even worse. The next day Dr. Natsume comforts Yuichi on the roof understanding his situation because his own wife died of almost the same condition. Before Rika's operation, she tells Yuichi that he can read the book she lent him. While waiting outside the operating room for her surgery to be finished, Akiko finds Yuichi waiting and tells him why she wanted her picture taken. Rika had taped it to her leg as a good luck charm. Yuichi finishes the book and ultimately discovers why Rika wanted him to read it- it's Rika's confession of love to him. She says that she'd risk her life through operation to be with him.
