Bored to Death: Jonathan Ames is feeling numb since his girlfriend moved out because of his repeated failure to stop drinking and smoking pot, he peruses his favorite Raymond Chandler novel, "Farewell, My Lovely," and is inspired to place an ad on the Internet offering his (unlicensed) services as a private investigator. It's not long when a 19-year old girl needing help finding her missing sister. Although he should be writing his second novel, and although he should be working on the deadline piece he's writing for the magazine he works for, he'll take the case and out into the urban night to track down the girl, embracing his newfound noir-detective status.
