The Wind in the Willows: For many years, Badger has taken on the task of producing annual plays and entertainments for the River Bank and Wild Wood folk. Mole, looking through Badger's scrapbook of past shows, discovers that the very first of them was Gilbert and Sullivan's opera The Pirates of Penzance. Since that was exactly twenty-five years ago, Rat insists that they should perform it again as this year's entertainment by way of a "jubilee" celebration. Preparations are soon underway for the opera: Rat takes on the role of musical director, while Mole volunteers to paint the scenery and is also cast as Major-General Stanley. Toad is to play the Sergeant of Police, but, being Toad, he starts off by learning songs from the wrong Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Despite many tribulations, the show is soon ready for a grand outdoor performance in the grounds of Toad Hall. However, Badger receives a rude shock when, right in the middle of the show, the performers suspend their roles and step aside for a speech by Toad. But for a first, Toad is about to blow someone's trumpet other than his own...
