William "Billy" Costello was the voice of , while Mae Questel lent her voice to Olive Oyl, 's platonic girlfriend. He was always bullied by Bluto, a big burly man who was usually a sailor too. He was voiced by William Pennell. In 1942 the series of shorts were made by Famous Studios and were usually based on a war time theme. Other featured characters were Pipeye, Pupeye and Peepeye, who were 's nephews who would stay with him from time to time. Also, there was a baby named Swee' Pea, which was never really explained who he belonged too, since he would stay with both Olive and from episode to episode.
