Shot over two years by Adrian Cowell and his team, is an extraordinary film, made under the most hazardous conditions. The sounds and silences of the forest are often eerie and unsettling, while the photography (by such distinguished cameramen as Chris Menges, Charles Stewart and Ernest Vincze) is remarkable. This documentary won a BAFTA for Best Documentary in 1970, the Prix Italia for Best Documentary and the Silver Medal at the Venice Film Festival.
