A troubled young man, Joe Yabuki (Tomohisa Yamashita), runs away from his orphanage. On the streets of Tokyo, he meets a former boxing trainer, Danpei Tange (Teruyuki Kagawa), who takes him under his care. Later, when Joe is arrested and imprisoned, he gets the chance to fight for his freedom by competing in boxing matches. There he meets Toru Chikaraishi (Yusuke Iseya), a fellow boxer who gradually becomes Joe's rival.
